About the design

The whole scene is carved into a single cracked slab of pale marble. A long flight of stone steps runs up the middle to a Corinthian temple at the top, columns and pediment cut in sharp relief. Low in the frame a figure in a short tunic climbs with a hammer over his shoulder and a coil of rope across his chest. Off to the right a second man is falling backward off a ladder, broken planks, loose rope and chunks of stone scattered down the steps behind him. Warm stone against a black ground, printed as one portrait gallery wrapped canvas, ready to hang, with a floating frame available as an upgrade.
