About the design

Two registers are carved into one cracked marble panel inside a Greek key border. Along the top, four men in short tunics lean into a rope, heels dug in, dragging a huge block up a timber ramp with rubble scattered around them. Below, the same block hangs in the sling of a wooden crane, and one man alone holds the rope, standing straight, having replaced four men with leverage. The title runs across the top lintel in Roman capitals. Warm off-white stone against a black ground. It arrives as one landscape gallery wrapped canvas, ready to hang, with a floating frame available as an upgrade.
